Lands of America recently had $1 billion in land, homesites and other rural acreage for sale for sale in the Beef State. This represents 654,815 acres of land for sale in Nebraska (accounting for about one percent of the state's land). Of Nebraska's 93 counties, Scotts Bluff County had the most land and farms for sale. The most expensive land listed for sale in Nebraska on Lands of America recently was $42 million, although the median price for land for sale in Nebraska was $1 million. The average price of land and rural property for sale in Nebraska was $2 million. There was 1,144 acres of sold land in Nebraska recorded in August 2018 through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from July 2018. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $2.5 million. Scotts Bluff County recorded the most land sales recently in the state. Of the nearly 800,000 acres of public lands in Nebraska, approximately two percent is open to hunting. Most hunting in the state takes place on private lands. Plentiful other outdoor-recreation opportunities await in the state's 77 state parks that comprise forestland, bluffs and the dune's and grasslands of the state's famous Sandhills. With numerous opportunities to hunt species including deer, boar and wild turkey, hunting land was the most common type of land for sale in Nebraska. In terms of size, Nebraska is the country's 16th-largest state, covering an area of 77,358 square miles (50 million acres). Of this area, 76,824 square miles (99 percent) of the state is land, while the remaining 524 square miles is covered by water.
